Kingdoms Unbound: Legends of Kime

It has been quite a while and a lot has gone down in the last few months! We released a new starter deck in February (Metallic Strength), raised $300 for Voices of Children through our fundraiser promo, and probably more noticeably, we have rebranded as Kingdoms Unbound: Legends of Kime! I know this probably brings a lot of questions, so lets get into it.

Why did you rebrand your game?

Well, unfortunately there is an easy answer to this one; I messed up. I was so focused on gameplay and artwork, and eager to finally share Kingdoms Unbound with you all, that I did not take the proper time to think about potential branding and company issues. This has been a learning process from the very beginning and things will be much more smooth sailing from here on out. It’s unfortunate that it had to happen now, but better late than never I suppose.

What happens to all of my old cards that now have a different card back?

That’s a great question and one that we had to think about long and hard. The most elegant solution would have been just say you can’t play them with upcoming sets and expansions to keep everything simple. However, that puts everyone out that has supported us thus far and is a pretty feels-bad solution. So the solution that we did come up with is this: All cards that have the retired Kingdoms CCG card back are considered to be Beta cards. They can still be played and mixed in with cards that have the new card backs, but opaque sleeves must be used in order to make sure they cannot be differentiated from new cards. (When the comprehensive rulebook is updated, this will be spelled out). There will be a rotating format after the first three sets are released and at that point the old cards will still be playable in the expanded format. There is an upside to all of this for both players and collectors! For players you get to play with the cards you already know and love with no disruption other than needing opaque sleeves. Collectors now have incredibly limited print runs of cards that will never be printed again with those backs, very limited my friends!

Where are you going from here?

We have a new 36 card expansion coming soon! We are in playtesting stages to make sure everything is working as intended, and finishing up the last two art pieces that are needed for the expansion. This is going to be a fire and water expansion that will beef up the first two starter decks (Roaring Flames/ Crashing Waves), or add to your already customized deck. There are a few spoilers over on our discord to check out.

A spring promo pack will be released in the very near future. It will feature some very unique card designs, and will be mainly watercolor art. This gives the pack a very fresh feel and look. Since you read this far, (I appreciate you!) here’s a sneak peak from the pack. Lots of good stuff is coming in this pack, so don’t miss out.

*The cards presented above are not final and may change in their final versions*

We are nearing completion of the first booster set: The Eon’s War! This booster set will take place during the Eon’s war and take us up to the Rise of the 12 Kings booster set coming down the road. This is a very exciting as this has been the plan for the past two years. More info to come on this, but we will keep you updated.

Our discord is up and running! A link will is posted on both our Instagram as well as the website. A poll will be put out in the discord and depending on the results, we may also be opening up a Patreon with rewards ranging from seasonal promos of current cards, to extra swag. Keep an eye out for info about this going forward.

Live demos will start happening both in person (in the Tucson area) and on Tabletop simulator.

Thank you all for sticking with us through all of this, and I can’t wait to expand the Kingdoms Unbound universe with you!
