The Olphus and the Four Great Forests

When the Paragon split in the early days of Kime, the four great forests grew from large clusters of fragments that found themselves embedded in the earth together. This phenomena allowed for the power of the fragments to flow through all of the growth within the forests, even creating some plants that can manifest fragments and fragment energy in small quantities.

While the magical properties of these forests has been the subject of legends from the beginning of recorded time, so too has the danger that looms within. Very few are brave enough, and foolish enough, to venture into the great forests in search of the treasures and power that lie within. Legend states that if you are able to harvest a single sprout as it emerges from the soil, you can transport it to a location outside of the forests’ edge while it retains its magical properties. If you are unable to complete the harvest, the forest begins to manifest anger that even the most fearsome warriors cannot imagine.

The Olphus, a funny and unique little creature, can be found in each of the four great forests. Though they reside in all areas of the forests, they are often very difficult to locate as they physically take on the qualities of the forest that they inhabit, feeding on fragments to both gain strength and become part of the forest.

The overgrown Olphus, and its close relatives, reside in the Kinrith Forest that surrounds the Qab Highlands to the north. The Kinrith Forest is a very dense forest with many different kinds of plants ranging from giant trees to free-hanging vines to the most beautiful flowers found on Kime.
