Kingdoms: Year 1
It’s crazy to think that it has been a full year since the very first Kingdoms post on Instagram. There were only a handful of people that even knew I had been working on a card game before that, and then it was finally out in the open for everyone to see. It was, and still is, a strange feeling to have this thing you have poured your heart and soul into for so long be on display for everyone to see. It’s not a bad feeling per say, just strange.
We have gotten so many different things out for Kingdoms over this first year, and I could not be happier with what is out in the world (with the exception of a few bad print runs of promo packs….). A quick recap, if you will:
Fire and Water starter decks
A Halloween promo
A holiday promo pack
Starter deck fragment counters
A Valentine’s promo pack
Fragment counters for the other four factions
A St. Patrick’s day promo
All of this really in less than a year as nothing was released until December! We have been on a mad dash to get more cards and products out this year, and we’re nowhere near close to stopping in the coming year.
I have learned so much in this process from designing the card templates, working on balancing, and even just figuring out shipping. There is a lot that I wish I would have known going into this project, but it really has been a great ride so far. I deeply appreciate the support from all of you and can’t wait to get more Kingdoms out there into the world.
Now, on to some juicy details for upcoming products!
Arbor Day
First up, we have the next promo pack (Arbor Day) releasing on the 22nd of April with previews starting the week before. I’m very excited about this pack and hope to see a lot more spicy plays with some interesting new cards. These are coming from a new printer as the quality control from the last printer was well below our standards (as some of you unfortunately found out.)
The test print should be in sometime next week and if all is good, final products should be in shortly before the release date. The downside of all of this is the price of the promo pack will be slightly higher for this release. The good news though, is that each pack will also come with a full playset of the St. Patrick’s day promo, Lucky Clover.
Playmats
Next up, Playmats! Yes, we finally have playmats! They will be released in the next couple of days. We are still working out the best shipping prices we can get, and once we do, they will go live on the website. The price point will be $30.
These playmats are on the lighter side material wise, but have been holding up really well for us over the last two months with lots of play. They are a foam mat instead of the typical rubber mats that you may be used to. Playmats really increase your play experience and we are looking into cheaper alternatives as well.

Mini Deck Expansion
We are currently working on a mini deck expansion. This is going to be a 40 card deck and a General/ Sovereign card that has been created for deckbuilding. This is NOT a full deck and requires other cards to be fully playable. This is for those players out there looking for a more unique and challenging deck building experience. We hope to have this launched sometime this fall. More info is to come as we finalize details.
Rule Book
The comprehensive rulebook is currently also in the works and should be finished by the end of the month. We are not doing a physical release of the rule book (unless there is lots of interest), but it will be made available on the rulings tab on the website. This is a very in depth look at the rules and mechanics of Kingdoms and not necessarily intended to be read cover to cover. This will be updated as new sets and cards are released to have the most updated information.
Lore
We are currently writing and refining more lore for Kingdoms. From here on out, each set and pack of cards released will also release with new lore. We have had lots of inquiry of the lore of certain cards, so this will help flesh out the world that we are seeing and help give you a better impression of it.
Contest!
Last but not least, a contest for our first year!
